What is Pulsed Magnetic Therapy or PMT

PAPIMI pulsed magnetic therapy PMT PMT is an advanced technology that uses a series of high-intensity/extremely low duration pulsed magnetic fields to recharge low-energy and damaged cells in the body. This is nothing like using a stationary magnet, or a rotating magnet to sweep the area with a magnetic field.

PMT is the same energy used in an MRI scan, but instead of imaging and diagnosis, we apply energy directly to the areas that need treatment. This is similar to how Ultrasound energy can be used for diagnostic imaging (monitoring babies in utero for example), or therapeutically in the treatment of a sprain/strain injury.

PMT energy has a wide range of positive effects and applications because it can:

Reduce Pain
Decrease Inflammation
Increase Range of Motion
Stimulate the Immune System
Increase Cell Membrane Permeability
Increase excretion of metabolic byproducts
Increase uptake of oxygen and nutrients
Detoxify cells
Rebalance Cell Electrolytes
Cause pH to be more Alkaline
Speed Healing rates by 2-3 times
Decrease scar tissue formation
Improve Quality of Healing
Decrease Blood Pressure
Increase visual acuity

It has been used worldwide for over 10 years with 200,000+ patient treatments, successfully addressing a wide range of symptoms. The particular machine I use in my office is the PAP-IMI 600.

What is treatment like?

While operating, the machine makes a popping sound. If the muscles area being treated are moderately injured or inflamed, you may experience some phantom muscle contractions. This is a byproduct of treatment, not the primary effect of treatment like the contractions of an electrical muscle stimulation machine. If nerves are moderately injured or inflamed, you may feel it as a tapping or a Ping. It is a little difficult to describe, but because we are using magnetic fields we are able to reach deep (15-20 centimeters is no problem) into the body, the feeling is rather... profound, i.e. it feels a bit like standing next to a set of concert speakers and feeling the bass resonate inside you, not painful but profound.. I can reduce treatment intensity to such a low level you'll hardly be able to tell the machine is on except for the popping noise. If the area is SEVERELY inflamed the energy is reduced because the area is so sensitive that you'll feel it more. .The sensation during treatment might best be described as odd but not unpleasant, and in fact it feels something like a massage from the inside out. It is not uncommon for patients to fall asleep while they are receiving treatment they relax so much.

How and why does it work?

Without getting into higher mathematics and physics (that I don't have all that firm a grasp of myself), allow me to describe what is happening, and How and Why it is effective. To maintain normal function, the body must keep many factors carefully balanced with each other, this balance is called homeostasis. The body is designed to be healthy, and homeostasis -maintaining physiology within ranges- is one of the mechanisms it uses to do this.

In a healthy cell -for example- the normal charge across the cell membrane ranges between +70 to +90 millivolts. This is a normal potential difference. When a cell is injured, diseased or toxic there is a decreased or abnormal potential difference that can fall to as low as +50 millivolts.

In a low energy state, the cell does not divide properly, or work properly and it interferes with the normal function and physiology of other cells. How is the low potential difference a problem? A lowered potential difference causes the cell to work harder doing its job: healing, absorbing nutrients and oxygen, getting rid of waste products, producing enzymes or hormones, maintaining a normal Sodium/Potassium balance, normal cell division, and so on.

An example where the potential difference has been measured to be as low as +15 millivolts is the Cancer cell. Obviously, not all low energy cells become or are cancerous, but low energy cells don't heal well, are prone to injury, and interfere with normal function and physiology.

When physical injuries are detected, the body begins the healing process first with inflammation then with scar tissue. Scar tissue is the body's filler materiel and solves the immediate problem, but is not intended to be a long-term solution as it is weaker than the tissue it replaces and is more easily injured by what would otherwise be normal forces.

What does PMT do about it? It minimizes scar tissue formation results in better more rapid healing and fewer re-injuries. The more scar tissue you have the longer it takes you to heal, the more easily injured you become, your aging is accelerated, and the more pain you will have. In short, the less scar tissue you have = less pain, more energy, better quality of life you will experience.

PMT does this by improving the quantity and quality of healing: you heal faster and recover in less time with less scar tissue. A recommenced treatment series is 5-10 visits, over 1-2 weeks, which usually results in significant improvement for most conditions. If you have had the condition for a long time or are seriously injured, extended treatments may be necessary. Prepaid treatment packages are available -instead of having to pay each time- to help save you money and allow you to get the full amount of treatment needed for optimal resolution of your condition.

I initially saw Brian since I used to have a very hunched posture where I was walking with my head almost in front of my body. His treatments have straightened me out and I'm now walking much taller with my shoulders back. An added bonus is that I since developed a whole new awareness as to how I carry myself.

I went and had my first PAP-IMI treatment on a Tuesday. On the following Saturday I was looking at myself in the mirror and realized that something was different but I couldn't put my finger on it to begin with. Later I realized that the difference was that all the brown moles I had in my face had disappeared. It's now four years later and they are still gone.
